Max Hart Makes Macau Debut This Weekend

Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Junior driver Max Hart is in China this weekend to compete at the famous Macau GP weekend.

This year, in celebration of the 70th running of the event, organisers have expanded it to run over two weekends. Max has flown in to compete at the TCR race this weekend and has just finished Free Practice 2 in P5, despite it being his debut race at the venue. As you can see from the onboard footage, below, it’s quite a challenging lap!

Max Hart: “It’s such a good track. I can’t get over how hard it is, but also how good it is! Considering the experience of the guys round me, I’d like to aim for a P9 or 10 tomorrow, to put me right at the sharp end for the reversed race two”

Considering the Irish Driver’s free practice pace, he might not have to wait for race two to have a go!

Max Hart started his motor racing career in Formula Vee Ireland, winning the Star of Tomorrow Championship before graduating to the UK Monoposto series with Leastone Racing. He then switched to saloons, establishing himself as a front runner in the UK TCR Series, winning multiple races in a Hyundai i30 N. In 2023 Max competes in TCR China in a Hyundai Elantra N TCR and is eighth in the standings despite never having raced at at of the tracks before. He works as an Instructor at Mondello Park in Kildare and has just been nominated for the Motorsport Ireland/Sport Ireland Young Driver of The Year Award.
